Walking into Yoga Urth is like returning to an old friends house. The heat welcomes you as you enter the glass doors, the air still warm and moist from the class before yours. The smell of patchouli and sandal wood incense, the warm glow from the candles and the stoic stone Buddha sitting in the corner all welcome you in. Two months had passed since my last class at Yoga Urth so I was nervous about the seventy five minute heated session I was about to partake in. But alas as we went thru the poses my body remembered, settling down into the flow like I had just been there yesterday. Finding my way and welcoming back chair, boat and even crow like friends I haven't seen in a while, shaky for some yet strong and still for others. The familiar music playing and the blissful heat encouraging the sweat to quickly form on your brow. Erin with her soft steady voice explaining each pose, speaking words of peaceful encouragement in a way that makes you feel as though she's talking only to you telling you exactly what you need to hear at exactly that moment. Yoga Urth is more than just a yoga room or someplace to work out in. It's a place filled with love and acceptance, encouragement and relaxation. Half way thru class your mind is calm and all the little bumps in life we worry about seem distant and suddenly not so important. By the end your body is warm and pliable, muscles sweetly fatigued ,the impurities and stress that we let resonate in our bodies and minds have been squeezed and twisted, rung out like that of a wet towel, sweat bringing our insecurities, doubts ,failures and negativities to be left behind on our mats. Yoga leaves you in a serene state of calm mental bliss along with a feeling of physical strength knowing your mind can carry your body thru anything and that feeling stays with you until your next visit making the trials and tribulations of everyday life feel less overwhelming and much more manageable . So thank you Erin for who you are, what you do and for the way you have transformed not only our bodies and minds but also our lives.
